Darren's first role as Musical Director was at the tender age of 17 for Petersfield Youth Theatre Group's performance of Godspell. Following this at the age of 18, he wrote and directed the Group's next performance of Wind in the Willows.

He has since gone on to MD several shows including: 6 years of pantomime at the Oxford Playhouse alongside Director and Writer Peter Duncan; the touring show The Heat Is On! alongside the UK Eurovision 2007 entrant Russ Spencer from Scooch, which has just finished it's fourth year; and Snow! The Musical which ran in the West End and featured Hannah Spearritt, known for her roles as a member of the pop group S Club 7 and Abby Maitland in BBC1's Primeval.
